Not long after I got the E55 I tried to check the oil level...looked at the handbook and it says that I can check it via the OBC due to there not being a dipstick.....

Now, I tried this as instructed by the handbook and the "Oil level check" wasnt there!. thought at first it was just me BUT;

At my local Merc dealer, their AMG specilist techniction has looked at it, the service team manager and service manager has looked at it and its been plugged into thier STAR machine twice now and its still not there!.

Its done 4k since its last service so Im sure the oil level will be ok enougth not to worry about BUT it would be erm nice to no!.

Cars booked in next week for them to sort it.....Ive spoken to Mercedes GB and they confirmed that the menu should be there and that my local dealer can speak to their tec support and download or re-code the OBC?!

But have to say that ive not got much hope of it being sorted as my experience so far of my local dealer has been disapointing!.

Fingers crossed that they can redeem themselves:doh:

I would want that sorted asap especially as i was reading a post on here the other day stating that amg engines do use oil unlike the rest of the petrol range.

My AMG engine doesn't use a drop, well not that you'd notice. :thumb:

Mine neither. The ML likes a litre or so between services, but that's a diesel and has a much longer service interval than the AMG.

Did 40K in my E55 never added any oil or had the warning light up, but you do need that sorting :)

Dont forget difference between normal e55 (ie 430 with bigger bores and indestructible) and e55k, the compressor must give the rings a hard time, google c32 oil consumption was on one of the yank forums.

Mine doesnt use a dribble but wifes 320 has just had one litre added a couple of days ago.

Sorted!,

My local Merc Dealer sorted the problem today!, they had to recode the OBC to tell it that the oil check was there!. Not uncommon apparently, they had a car before thats boot wouldnt close as the car didnt know it had one :dk: go figure?!.

They still cocked up the mileage on the invoice mind! they put 80300 miles, i asked him to adjust it and he said that the previous invoice said that the car had done 50300 miles, which was a good 2000 miles previous when I checked the car it read 50202!

Soooo my spedo's going backwards now instead of forwards! :wallbash:

they will be sending me an amended invoice groan lol, but hey at least its sorted :thumb:
