You are looking at approx. £550 per month for full time private nursery / creche. (Excluding meals !)

Should have edited my reply to add

"and well worth every penny" :D :D

.... luckily he's at school now, so a temporary reprieve for the finances until my younger son is old enough to go !

You can get tax relief for childcare but I am unsure how much as I am not entitled, but I am sure someone here will know more.

The Government reckons the AVERAGE childcare cost for an under two year old is £7,000 p.a.

But a good childcare facilty is worth its weight in gold. Cheap childcare may be poor and so a false ecomy. You need childcare that is reliable, flexible and right for you and your child whatever it costs.

Costs vary dramatically from region to region and town to town. The only way to find out what it might cost you is to ring some up. Your local authority will have a childcare contact that can send you an info pack with details of nurseries, childminders and the such like.

Some LAs subsidise nurseries whereas others don't. But for full time childcare in a nursery don't expect it to be any less than £500 per month.

Are we thinking about a weeny Smartee then  ;)

Or is it a done deal

Strongly suggest this. Moved once with a one year old, and once with a three year old and one year old twins. Do the moves first :)
