Speaking to a guy at work today who had been told (after nearly 9 months of complaining) that the rapidly staining chromed wheels fitted on his wife's PT Cruiser were "not really suitable for use in the UK climate" and would be replaced with something less pretty but harder wearing.

Is this generally true of all chromed alloy wheels?

there's chroming and there's chroming. it all depends on the quality of the chroming, and the thickness .. at least that's what the Californians say !!

yeah but californians don't throw salt on the roads!

.....but if you clean your wheels regularly enough, it shouldn't be a problem regardless of the conditions or finish hey Vinnay! ;)

their customers in Michigan and elsewhere do!
