I can't see how that is more likely to get stolen, it stands out too much.
I have seen a few top end cars painted like that and in gold and they must have got insurance from somewhere

A chrome wrap is one thing, but this is a £20k paint job. Worth more than the car itself.

That's what happens when you buy a colour whose only other owners were footballers...

he said: "It's a MINI Cooper for crying out loud, not a Ferrari."
And that's precisely why no insurance company will cover it for £38,000.

I suspect insurers don't want to know because it could become an uneconomic repair with relatively little damage and more likely to be a target for vandalism.

Plus the risk of impact with other cars is probably greater because of dazzle. I'm being serious too. That could easily be cited as a contributing factor in the event of an accident.

I think its a combo of the two, no-one in their right minds would insure that car for 38 grand, and it would be a target for every chancer in the country.:eek::eek::wallbash::doh::doh::doh:

People have more money than sense. I've seen the SLR in the Chrome paint and that looked awesome! But to apply that to 17K mini is just plain lunacy! Especially if the paint costs more than the base car! I pity the foools!

I saw the chrome SLR in Battersey a few months ago driving down the road like any other motor, I thought to myself, that makes a cool car look cheap and tacky.
May as well been a chav mobile.

Chrome wrap on the SLR, not chrome paint. Belonged to "Flabbergast" or something like that, one of those chappies who's proficient at kicking a ball around a bit and for some reason idolised as a result.
