Lots of Mercedes!
Saturday morning, nice day.. so why not get the SL out today... have a lovely drive to work... park in the corner out of harms way..

Then a gentleman comes to collect an engine that I sold on ebay.. its near the SL... So we get the engine crane and proceed to lift into his Volvo.

Then disaster.. The engine hoist tips towards the SL, everyone shouting and screaming and the next thing i know im looking at a dent in the drivers wing of my SL...

Im GUTTED!

and to add the icing, I find his volvo bumper is scuffed and cracked so ended up letting him have the engine for almost half price.

but like anything else, it could have been a lot worse..only the wing was damaged.. headlight etc was missed.

Why oh why did I bring the SL in today?????

Ah man.. this is a hard story to bear.. my stomach is churning for sure..

sorry to here this, yes could have been worse, but still the ding is bad enough...

good luck in sorting out...

think of it like this, u r made up of scars and markings u have accumulated over the years, so this is ur SL's way of showing you it is individual ;)

No other SL has been through what it had been through today :)

Ouch.

At least it is only a bit of metal rather than a crunched person, not that is much of a consolation.

Take heart from the fact that it could have been the rear quarter of the widebody... imagine that....

The way to look at it is; If you'd have used a different (quicker/slower took longer to move etc,) car, you may have had a nasty accident travelling to work.. Who knows?

I had a minor ding in London a few months ago and I was really hacked off by this.

However, whilst my car was in the body shop the guys there noticed an engine part/component was fitted incorrectly and would have caused a fair amount of damage if unnoticed. My car was covered by insurance and I left the car at the repairers for almost two weeks whilst my wheels were away for refurbing. Also had the dodgy pixels sorted on the display and a few other jobs done whilst there so a result!

I know it's a b*mmer when this sort of things happen, but at least you are still in one piece. Hope you get it sorted Jay. :thumb:

thanks guys... oh it will be sorted... i cant bear to look at it..

I know... the thing is if id have brought any other car in, i wouldnt have parked where i did... oh well..

I feel it!!

When my Saab was just a few weeks old, I took it to one of my clients near Heathrow. Lovely sunny day, and with pride of new owenership, I parked it outside the showroom, roof down. Within minutes, I heard a horrible crushing sound!! Looked up, through the showroom window I could see my Saab being literally lifted up at the rear by an airport truck that had very long rear overhang, as he was leaving the garage!!!

Huge scar down the side and an insurance bill of nearly £5K!

If only I'd left it at home or put it in the compound car park!! The power of "if only" eh!! Glad your damage wasn't worse!

You should have gone in the 107 instead - a mere engine block would have simply bounced off that!

Hope its all OK again soon.

The 107 is the car he`s talking about

ouch.. well this is one pic i have to see.. cant even begin to imagine how the car looked!

I do have a pic somewhere. Imagine if you took a chainsaw and ripped it through the metal from the rear bumper right up to the door!! It almost made me cry to be honest!! In fact, I couldn't face looking at it after and had it transported directly to the Saab dealer where it stayed until the third party insurance got sorted with Accident Exchange (who, by the way, are brilliant!!!). And I'm usually so careful where I park!! By the way, how was the birthday??? :D

Isn't a pagoda a W113?

no its the R107 not the pagoda... I brought the pagoda to work yesterday and immediately put it in the showroom due to some angry looking clouds...

Ive been an T cutted the marks out.. now just two dents... Probably blowing it out of proportion but ive been super careful with this car since ive had it... 10 years now?
