Caravanning is a hobby enjoyed by all branches of society. Why should someone be critized for their pastime just because of their choice of car?
A CL probably makes a particularly good towcar: which is, after all, the deciding criterion.

A 450SEL 6.9 with 1935Kg kerbweight , all round hydropneumatic suspension , and 405 lb ft torque is probably an even better one whilst still being a CAR .

On a German autobahn last summer, I saw an SL55 AMG towing a boat!
But a CL towing a caravan, somehow, trumps that in the "Just Wrong" stakes!

I'm with the 'it's just wrong' vote! Saw the title and assumed we would be talking about an old-style CL, which I could sort of get. But the new one - that elegant, powerfully poised design - with a box on the back. How can anyone with the good taste to have a CL look at that rig and not find their senses jarred?!!!

As a towcar I would imagine it's quite good, but not the usual choice!!

Why ?

Mercedes-Benz consider it right ! Why else would they show cars towing in their brochures ? Below is a picture of an SL towing , from the brochure of the time - I also have a brochure picture of an S Class towing a CARAVAN somewhere , I'll post it when I find it .

I See nothing wrong with it, its a car its doing a job. Why have a GL as well if this does the buisness, once on site he gets to cruise round in his rather nice car
