That silhouette in silver just gets better and better

Thank you for your lovely images. There are W215 CL500s around in Sydney in various dark colours with light interiors but for mw our combination of Brilliant Silver, with Charcoal Leather and Burr Walnut wood is the sexiest combo. H2016-01-22 18.02.03.jpg

2002 CL500 boot not closing when the key button is pressed ...

Hi again,

My boot has recently stopped opening from the electric signal from the key or via the remote boot switch on the drivers door. It closes normally ( I can hear an electric motor going) by pressing the red illuminated button on the boot lid near the lock, though.

I had a look at the fuses chart and there doesn't seem to be a fuse for this boot close/release function that might have blown.

Has anyone else had this issue and know what it is?

I would appreciate the Group's help.

It could be that the hydraulic fluid for the pump has run low. This might be helpful.

2002 CL500 chalcedony blue, 70k miles
Just driven Dundee Liverpool Southampton, Weymouth and return to Dundee car returning 29mpg, cruising at 75 with air con on. Would have been better but got stuck in traffic at ringwood. Not computer figure, full tank to full tank but computer figure close to calculated figure.

Changed ABC fluid and filter before leaving as fluid looked a bit dirty.

Love the car, cruising at 75 with air con on, cruise control and music playing (not Jeremy bloody vine!) in leather armchair.

Just for starters,

I have bought a 215 that deserves a lot of attention...
It was cheap & I mean cheap ! So I set the necessary four figure(s) sum aside
before commencing the long haul back to an acceptable standard.
It may not get there but it should be interesting & educational to find out
It is a basic 2004 500 model with no extras whatsoever.

The car was M-B maintained for the first 15-16 years by its
owner with the last 4 years indeterminate except for engine oil/filter
changes & MOTs. It has done over 100000 miles so far & I have only
accrued 35 more miles when rescuing my wife`s stranded E500 a few days ago.

Next week it goes to my local Indie for rectification of some of its
faults including the PSE vacuum pump failure, which, when I fitted a new
graphite impeller restored some of its services but not all. Leaks & broken wires spring to mind.
That pump is small but it does a lot of work
The exhaust is noisy & rear boxes have rattling baffles & usual fractured hangers
but I do not intend to spend £900 on a new rear system, just yet thank you.

Misting dampers, grooved discs, front suspension rods & split rubber boots are known too.
More to come I am sure but first it will be all fluids to be renewed....steering, engine
& ABC that makes grown men tremble. Brakes are being left until front discs & pads are fitted.....
