In my minds eye this is the best modern coupe shape, the only tiny imperfection the rear light clusters IMO. Beautiful car. The current S class coupe just doesn't look as lithe and cat-like as this. Would love to get one of these CLs in a few years time and take it on a grand tour (of Europe)

What don't you like about them?

I must admit, the rear of the car is not my favourite.

I prefer the facelift look and the light clusters all-red but still, the back of the car is a bit too plain for me when viewed straight-on.

However, it was the only thing I didn't like as the rest of it for me is a fine piece of design.

At the moment, I prefer it to the S Coupe successor although like with a lot of models, I am usually not keen on the successor and then it warms on me and I end up preferring it.

Not always though.

The rear for me is also my least favourite part but for me my little boot lip sorted that out totally

I am seriously considering the s63 coupe at the moment, I did ask the other day if anyone else had made the move but not a single reply :(

I have registered with photobucket today, although it seems ponderous, I think I have cracked it.

The first picture is in MB Plymouth showroom at handover.

The car has not shown any faults over the past 13 months of ownership and it has had 1 "A" service with MB £398 and is now 31k mileage.

I'm not sure many have. There aren't many 216s on here per se (hence my tumbleweed comment at the start) and I bet even less have made the move on here.

There might be the odd one or two S63s but I can't recall any others and certainly not who has them.

You will be one of the first I suspect.

I like them in grey - really shows the lines and the design well. Nice!

As a follow up to the comments on the rear end, in my mind's eye, I have a picture of the rear view of a Sumo Wrestler posturing when I look at mine from the back.

Yes I agree with the comments on the rear of the 216, you certainly cant say that about the 215. Have just dropped the 6.3 off at Ed's ( Divine Detailing ) for a weeks detailing and my beloved followed me in the 55.

Its the first time they have been side by side and as Ed put it the 55 is a very pretty car and the 6.3 is get out of my way I'm coming through !!

How Mercedes can produce something like the rear of a R230 and W215, I'm not sure how they ended up goofing the W216.

For me, it's only looking dead-on straight to the rear though - when I look at an angle, I'm happy with it.

Maybe a boot spoiler would help as suggested but I'm not really into spoilers anymore. I did them to death from my first car through to my last quickish car before the E55. I like it if the boot lid is shaped like a spoiler like on some cars - just not ones that are stuck on.

The upper rear end looks just too plain compared to the rest of the magnificent shape of the car and powerful, yet classy look. Those triangular slanted light clusters could have been done better, looks like they had enough of designing that day.
If the new S coupe was very close to the 2014 CL shape but retained the S class interior, I'd have been tempted to push the boat out (money and persuading the missus [emoji56] ) instead of going for the S class saloon.

There seems to be something like 390 of the CL500CGI's currently registered in the UK (not to mention the other variants), so still much room for this list to grow!

The exteriors still beautiful, the interiors elegant but dated to my taste. What do you CL owners think of the latest evolution? (S-Class coupé)

I want the new S Coupe a lot - Just waiting for the prices to come down a bit more and stabilise. I have been watching the market for about 3 months, sub 10,000 mile cars are now down to the £81k mark, they where £89k in November!!
I cant justify that level of depreciation on a car currently. I am hopeful they will slow down when 65-70k in 6-12 months time
