Check the headlight indicator housing (disconnect bulb and inspect rubber 'o' rings). The rubber seal perishes over time and allows water in. This causes it to short and make you fog light flash instead.

The metal on the bulb holder corrodes aswell, mb have a redesigned replacement unit for around £20 I think

i went to my local dealer and they say i have to get the wire harness just for that part going to try different merc dealer

Yea it is a new bulb holder and it comes with a new harness which needs to be soldered in.

have put new bulb holder on and still not working just front fog light flashing any more ideas

The front fog light is flashing because the lighting ECU has detected a fault with the indicator bulb/circuit and has temporarily substituted the fog light to act as the indicator.

Sounds like a wiring problem to that indicator. Are the other indicators and emergency flashers working correctly?
