CL500 squeaky suspension

Hi folks, got a squeak on front of CL500, figured it might be ball joints

Car in with dealer at the moment, they are saying both lower control arms need replacing at £180 EACH + 4 hours labour

Seems mighty expensive to me, can any experts confirm that's not a good price

Does sound pricy. On a CLS I was quoted 180+vat for per side parts and labour from a good indi. Shouldn't take more than a couple of hours per side for someone with all the kit and experience to change out the lower ball joint.

That is not a bad price, the ball joint is built into the arm and they are a PIG to do.

thanks all, i'm near Monmouth. For now have decided I can live with a squeak rather than part with £800 !

Having seen the damage a seized ball joint can inflict, I'd not be inclined to ignore it.

indeed, both front tyres are ruined, it's going in next week. Bread & water for me in October
