Ok, I eventually got around to replacing the standard twin single exit back boxes as shown here:

What I did first was to have the standard back boxes removed and some small straight through ones with twin exits at each side made up at my local POWERFLOW exhaust dealer. This cost was £352.00 fitted, see here:

The problem I had at this point was the fact the car now sounded like an American muscle car, extremely loud!! So to rectify this I had two further straight through silencers / resinators fitted a little furter up the pipeline, which you can see here: Cost of £120 fitted for the pair.

and here:

Now the car sound awesome, almost as quiet as original but with a hint of the V8 rumble when you want it :D Needless to say it also looks much better in my opinion, or it will when my bodyshop guy perfects the bumper cutouts.

So a total cost of £472.00 plus £50 at bodyshop.

Now the car looks and sounds like it should have in my opinion.

I have kept the original back boxes for now but may sell them in the future.

Looks really good! You should post a sound clip as well so we know what it hears like

Looks great, I'd also be keen to hear how it sounds... :D

That looks the biz Hornet - should have rung me though I'd have liked to hear it straight through!

twin exhaust

looks great i was thinking of getting done to my s55amg migth get it done

The pre-cats and Cats are before the cross over pipe in the central area which the pictures are not low enough to show clearly. The two silencers are just behind (towards rear of car) of the crossover pipe and two small boxes where the rear back boxes once lived, all of the new ones are straight through.

Hi Tim, I did MSN you before I had the extra two silencers fitted (very noisy stage) but you were busy matey :) It simply sounded like and American muscle car and was totally obtrusive. Now the extra silencers / resinator boxes are in it is almost as quiet as original but has a V8 rumble to it, which is exactly what I wanted.

Some people slate POWERFLOW exhausts and their dealer network, but across the many cars I have had I have never been un happy and its saves many £'s over off the shelf stuff and can be customised however you like. They also come with lifetime guarantees as they are SS, not that it matters becuase I never keep a car long enough for a mild steel exhaust to fall apart :D

I don't have good enough recording equipment to do a sound clip... and I would only want to do one if it sounded like the real thing, not some crappy little audio track with crackles etc.
