CL500 W215 ‘Paid In Full’ Style

Hi
I am in Southampton so distance might be an issue.
Does yours look like the one fitted in this link?
Or like the one in this link
Where does your sat nav disc go? Is it a CD or a DVD?
It’s the top one, the one with the wide screen.
The SatNav disc goes in the front, in the disc slot.
I’m not too sure which type it is though but I definitely know it goes in at the front.

Thanks for the help btw!

Personally I would say you have NTG 1 in which case you have the MOST not D2B, but i am thrown by the fact that your Sat nav disc is up front.
Again if you knew if the disc was CD or DVD this would tell us conclusively (DVD=NTG 1=MOST, CD=Command 2=D2B).
Have you got BOSE or Harman Kardon?
If you let me have the chassis no. I can raise the data card to the Vin this should clarify.
Meanwhile have a look at this link it describes the MOST system and you maybe able to clarify the system you have fitted by applying what you already know is fitted.

Hey Andy,
Just finished work and went to check, I can confirm it is a DVD and goes in the front. The sound system is a Bose Sytem.
Chassis number: WDB2153752A038239

I’ll check that now.

It will be the BOSE amp or...broken wires from the speakers in each door. I had both. Now I don't have the BOSE system just an OEM lookalike Android.

Ok, I have just run your chassis number and it confirms exactly what I suspected regarding NTG 1 and what you saying now.
NTG 1 so is MOST rather than D2B, and confirms up-rated sound system being fitted.
Did you have a read and get your head around that link in my previous post, regarding diagnosing the data signal/light running through the fibre cables?
In swapping out your Amplifier and the dis-assembly/re-assembly you have carried out so far you haven't removed the individual fibres from the two way plugs at each item in the MOST loop? As they are specific and if swapped could cause an issue similar to what you are experiencing currently.
The Amplifier

Okay, I’m starting to get a better understand from what you’ve mentioned and what I’ve read up too.
If possible, do you have sometime tomorrow evening so I could give you a call and discuss further? If so could we exchange numbers over PM?

I also found this link and this system looks exactly like mine. https://www.carstereohelp.com/mercedesFiberOptic.htm

Looks great, did you change the # or is it still the same as the one in every other picture?
Thank you, I appreciate the praise! And yes, same number plate. The picture with a line on, I had that posted on my Instagram. I am planning on changing it soon though.

However, I did buy some 4D shortened plates to freshen it up slightly as the old ones were scratched and a bit dull.

I also replaced the Number plate lights with LED ones too, took about 15 minutes to change and only need a few tools.

Lowering links have come!

Looking to drop the rear as it’s sitting quite high. Infact, looking to lower it all slightly so on the lowest mode has a nice clean stance to it, just on the edge of the tyre sort of look.

I’ll also give this a check as I’ve got to take the drivers door panel off anyway to replace the control panel and wing mirror rubber seal.

Thanks!

Hi
Yes no problem having a chat.
Though not sure I can PM you as you haven't enough posts yet.
Does the stereo work correctly and it is just there is no sound?
If the head unit is dead then I suspect the Audio Gateway is at fault, rather than the amp this is the master unit in the MOST System it sends a signal out on the fibre to the first unit out of that to next unit then onto the next finally going back to the Audio Gateway. The configuration is programmed so the Audio Gateway knows the specific order of the units.
The Audio Gateway is also responsible for waking the system up as it sends the wake up signal to each of the MOST Units.
From this you can see that it is important not to muddle up the fibres in the two way connectors at each unit as crossing the connection will break the MOST Ring, hence my earlier question.
Items in the loop in order for your car (I think) Audio Gateway - CD Changer - Linguatronic Control Unit - Telephone Control Unit - Display/Head Unit - Bose Amplifier - Back to Audio Gateway.
You can follow the light through the components from the Gateway though I think you will have to keep turning the ignition on/off as it will only send light for a few seconds before shutting down.
You can also check the integrity of the fibres themselves simply shining a bright torch at one end of the fibre and the light should be seen at the other end.

I’ll also give this a check as I’ve got to take the drivers door panel off anyway to replace the control panel and wing mirror rubber seal.

Thanks!
The broken wires are not inside the door, but in the tube running between the door and the rest of the car.

Hello Everyone!

Sorry for my absence, Work has been super busy the past 2 weeks meaning I’d had to put my social life on pause a bit.

However, I’ve got some time today and thought I should give an update on the Build so far.

Since the last post I’ve bought and done the following:

- New Brembo Disc’s front and rear.
- New Brake Lines front and rear.
- New Dust Shields for the rear.
- New Brake Sensors.
All to be fitted next week.

- New Carpets (I messed up and chose the wrong grey but they’ll do for now till the right ones arrive)

- New Headlight Switch Panel ( If anyone has any advice on how to remove one, that would be great!)

- New Bonnet Badge (Finally!)

- Window Tints (Was tired of the greenhouse look, way too visible for me).

- Very very lightly tinted rear lights, just to tone down the brightness of red.

All tinting was done by a very good friend, Duncan who owns Autoshine and Tinting in Telford, he does some great stuff there!

Car looks great - quite a labour of love to get it looking so pristine
Thank you! It was one of my favourite cars growing up and always wanted to own one!

Ahh yes you’re right, I need to post more.
Not a problem!

I’ll give this a try over this weekend when the rain stops, if I’m not successful I’ll just give in and hand it over to an audio specialist😂

Thanks for you help, you’ve been great!

Just realised I never took pictures of the brakes and badge. I’ll grab a few and post them here today.

Very nice work. Such beautiful elegant cars. Always one of my favourites
