Hi All,
I have an intermittent fault with the drivers side (RHD) electrics on my car. From all the various tests and check i have done (including checking the wiring loom in the door), I am 99% sure that the issue is the door control module itself. I put a multimeter on the live and neutral terminals of plug going into the control module, and I am getting full voltage reading, even when i shake and move the wires around. However when I plug the DCM in even the slightest movement causes the power to intermittently come on and off.

I tried to get a replacement second hand DCM online, but i think the one I received is actually for a LHD car(right hand door - i.e. configured as a passenger module), because when i plug it in, only a subset of the electronics work (it doesnt work the side mirrors, windows, boot release - it does allow the seats to be adjusted).

So, I am wondering if any of you on here may know either of the following:

1) Is it possible to turn on/reconfigure the features in the seemingly passenger module that I bought so that I can use that in the driver's side?
2) If its not possible to do number 1) above, where can i source the correct mercedes benz door control module from? I believe the part number is: A 215 821 12 51 7C45

According to parts info, all those door control units seem to be different parts (left door/LHD, left door/RHD, right door/LHD, right door/RHD).

The door control module fuse should blow if you observe complete power loss on when the DCM plug is connected. You should try measuring the voltage with the plug disconnected and a load (e.g. a bulb) on the DCM ground and power wires.

A late response as just seen this. So they left and right are different part numbers as they have different shapes. But the right hand part no is the same if it is a left hand drive or right hand drive. The configuration is different and can be programmed. If you open the module there are 2 boards inside. Depending on which is faulty they can be swapped out. Normally with your fault I would say it is probably one of the ribbons that is faulty and this can be changed..

Thanks for your response. I managed to get it sorted in the end - I managed to get hold of a replacement door module and fitted it. Since then it’s been working fine and my drain on the battery also seems to have stopped.

Interesting point on the ribbons being the issue - I’ll take a look at that once I have some of the other issues sorted 😂
I’m just about to post about the boot locking mechanism so if you have any knowledge on that please do chip in 👍
