CL500 won't start stuck in park

did a good run yesterday, all fine

go to start-up this morning and it ticks over but won't start. Shift is stuck in 'P' and the brake seems very heavy to push down

Any ideas please... Brake Light Switch maybe??

Changing the brake light switch is certainly the cheapest possible fix if that solves it.
Have you checked the battery is fully charged? Low voltage can cause this too.


After that I think you are looking at the plastic lock lever that breaks off the selector module.

well i changed the brake light switch - that was fun, also fitted new battery.

still the same, turns over won't start - time for AA (or similar) I think

I can get it out of park by hitting the top of lever while pulling back. Dash shows correct gear as I put it through R, N etc
