CL55 AMG 2001 Exhaust Query

So I just acquired a CL55 for peanuts but not without a couple of issues.

The one I'm enquiring about relates to the single version tailpipe end pieces each side (2154900027) which later changed to a duel each side. I'm wondering exactly how these connect to the main exhaust section? I know there is a bevelled collar and was wondering if these are normally welded in place? Or other method.
It's a strange old set up I am not used to seeing. I presume a previous owner lost one and removed the other which was in the boot. I've bought a new 2nd end piece and want info on how to approach restoring them to the car.

Appreciate any help with this.

P.s I also have a similar end piece (A2154900327) likely bought in error available should anyone need one please enquire.

Yeah saw some 2002 models with quad pipes. Wondering what the spare pipe is from

IIRC there is a Y piece after the box on quads.

So I had a new end piece arrive which explained how these hold together. The main exhaust and end pieces are joined using the bevelled insert and are held in place using a bevelled clamp (not a U-clamp)
