I have a 2001 cl55 amg, it has started to make a funny knocking noise over bumps which seems to be coming from the rear passenger side shock... I have had a look and there seems to be alot of thick oily gunk around the spring and in the arch, there is none of this in any other arch. I have been looking at the abc fluid level on the dipstick in the engine and it doesn't appear to have changed in over a week or 2. No warning lights of anything have come up. Any of you guys have any idea what my problem could be?!

    It sounds like a new strut I'm afraid £ 1000 +.

I thought as much, just thought it was strange that the abc level hasnt changed. Would a strut from a cl500, or 600 fit, or is the amg part different?

    Thanks, Aidan

It's an AMG part and it's bound to cost more than a 500/600 strut !!!

A bit like the "amg window wipers" which had a £30 Mark up over the 500 ones but were actualy identical!

Have a look at Arbott in the states they are a lot cheaper than the dealership and come highly recommended.
