CL55 v Marcos V8

Had a bit of fun with one of these today, the sound it made was awesome, looking on t’internet they came with either a 4.0l or 5.0l mustang engine.

After he floored it from about 40mph, I done the same but had to back off the throttle at ~80ish otherwise I would have ended up in his boot

If he moved over I could have overtaken him, but he pulled onto the slip road before I could. He will probably be scratching his head now wondering what big Merc was stuck on his tail

It's not Marco's V8, but the name of the car in the picture above is called a Marcos - bit like Mercedes and Mercedes's (sort of)

Marcos cars are quite silly, basically a v8, some ford bits and a fg shell. I was talking to a guy who owned a Marcos and he said the suspension, steering, brakes and other bits are off cortinas and granadas etc, he'd replaced quite a bit of it himself, with the panels taken off it looks ridiculously simple.

He said it's the worst car he's ever owned. It's fast, it sounds amazing and it looks quite nice (genuinely a head turner) but it can't do speed bumps, it can't corner, it's not comfortable to sit in and it's totally impractical. I had a sit in it and it's hilarious, your bum's basically sat on the floorpan, can't see over the dash, transmission tunnel is about shoulder height and yet you bang your head on the roof getting in and out, seriously cramped cockpit.

Still, in a straight line it's fast, no question about that

I endorse every word Shude has said. They certainly sound nice.

When I was a youngster a friend of mine put a Rover V8 into a MkII Escort, it sounded similar to a Marcos, but was more comfortable, handled better and went like a rocket.

Not forgeting, that lots of peeps used to put 2.0L cortina engines in marcos's(being the kit cars that they where/are!!) So maybe you had a duel with one of them
