CL65 no reserve auction.

I’ve seen this car in person when it was for sale last time:

REF 1 2004 Mercedes-Benz CL 65 AMG

It was pretty rough in my opinion, certainly nowhere near good enough for the type of car/mileage.

I had a 215 CL at the time and it was so much tattier than my own that I didn’t bother bidding.

These were my thoughts at the time:

Historics - Brooklands

I wonder if the repairs have been completed, I note your review was 3.5 years ago.

Not sure what you mean about repairs - it wasn’t broken, just a tatty example (which should have been far better for the age/mileage/value etc)

Not being funny but who silicones/mastics on number plates and brake light assemblies to what was a £150k car? Along with the poor paintwork repairs and condition of the interior etc it just looked like it hadn’t been looked after which is a shame on such a rare/expensive car. Quite a few of the cars that end up at these sorts of auctions are there for a reason (no doubt like the S65 which I saw at the same time with electrical faults and a smokey engine!)

The 215 CL is a complex beast and the ‘65 AMG in particular, personally I would be cautious - but you’re welcome to view it yourself and decide :)
