Hi, What's going on, tried to get a quote for a 14 year s class, and have been told by several insurers that rules have changed last year and now a car needs to be 20 years plus before its classed as a classic.

Reason being a lot of newish cars were falling into the classic band?

Anyone know of any insurers who still provide classic insurance for 10year plus cars?

Thanks

Depends entirely upon the insurer. I have a fleet policy with Heritage by Norton with 2 genuine classics, 1 youngtimer and 4 cars that aren't. The principle difference in cost between the two is accounted for entirely by garaging and the amount of mileage, so apart from the benefit of agreed value (useful for old cars), there's not a lot of difference.

Hi,
Please feel free to drop me a line at Adrian Flux Insurance. We have classic car schemes that would cater for this vehicle. If you wanted to PM me your details I'd be happy to arrange for one of my quotes team to give you a call back.
Regards,
Dan.

You were my first call, price was in the thousands
Normally AF is cheap, but I was told now 20years plus for classic policy, even though I have had policies from you in the past.

Hi,
That's strange? It certainly isn't over 20 year old only with ourselves. Whilst granted yes some of our schemes would require a car to be over 20 years old we have a number of schemes that have no vehicle age restriction. Must be some other reasons why we weren't competitive.
If you could forward me a reference number I can take a look in to it to see what the issue is. Also I can then look to re-educate the appropriate member of staff regarding vehicle ages on our schemes.
Regards,
Dan.

I didn't get a ref no, as I found the price too high to go further, next time I will contact u direct.;)

Try Peter Best.....they do classic insurance for 10 years plus. My W202 is insured with them on a classic policy.

Try a specialist broker. There are plenty of modern classic policies out there. I use Manning UK and pay £350 fully comp for the CLS55 (mirrored 5 years NCD, garaged, 38 years old).

Thanks, I think not being garaged was the main issue.

My wife's 1987 XR2 is on a classic policy with AF.

Very good value, <£100, for 3K miles per year and agreed value. It is garaged though!
