I've spent an hour looking through threads on insurance but can't find any recommendations for a classic car insurer. :dk:

Would someone be kind enough to point me to an insurer who doesn't want an arm and a leg.

TIA

BTW It's the Coupé's 20 birthday this month.

I used Footman James for my LWB W123 and it was around £200 PA for 500miles pa.

It has to be a second car but doesnt need to be kept off the road IIRC.

Try Lancaster or Peter Best. Both have been pretty good and well priced in my experience (no claims mind you ;))

I can wholly recommend Classic Car Insurance | Agreed Value | Laid Up | Lancaster Insurance

£140 a year for my w126 300 se 3k mileage per annum. Im 30 and have 9 ppoints!

They also did a short term insurance policy (3 days) for me and my mates when we took the old girl down to prague.

Agreed. It's Hagerty but nonetheless very good. Hagerty Classic Car Insurance

Got my SL with them and been with a few of the suggested others before I changed. Horses for courses though. Everyone has different needs/circumstances.

what effect do all those mods have on the premium? do you do an agreed value?

Mods are no problem cos none of them affect basic performance. All are declared. Car has agreed value done by MB Club valuer.

how do you get that done? who to contact? are they near to us? not something i'm interested in now, but eventually

I have used Lancaster for the last few years. Premium is currently £110 for a W124 300E.

Details of club valuers in the small directory that comes with the Gazette every 3 months .

bump - will be using some of the companies in this thread for my W116
