I wonder how many this is true for? I know for a fact if I had one our lass would be all over it. I think it's one of the few less feminine little sports cars out there. Got to love them!

Love these cars - nothing epitomises Mercedes better, very 'old money' just wish decent examples weren't so pricey. I'll have an '89 500SL in black with cream leather please

I occasionally use a carwash in Wandsworth that is next to a dealer who always has lots of old SLs. Plenty of time to look longingly while my car is getting the eastern european TLC.

I'm sure that particular retailer has overpriced cars - but hey ho, have always fancied one so maybe one day - metallic black or blue with grey Tex or leather....

Oh, and it's a shame that article is written by such a numpty....

they have had that e220 cabrio in smoke silver for yonks.

i was considering buying it in 2008.. and its still there.. surely these cars must have some negative aspect for sitting on a forecourt for so so long?
