I have 17 inch AMG alloys with the polished rim.. Do you have any advice on getting the rim back to mirror finish and then keeping it like it.. I want a DIY solution not send them off @£60 per wheel

You should be able to use the same polish as you use on your paint work to keep them shiney. After cleaning them, I use Meguiars Hot wheels, depends how bad they are.

I've cleaned them ok ie no dirt at all on the lip., but they do not shine....I guess I need to use some kind of cutting compound or similar but am not sure...

I am no expert on polished rims but a friend of mine just used the same polish for his paint, they always shined. You will get more replies later, but you could try g3 etc.

If the rims aren't lacquered then try 'solvol autosol' metal polish .....

Then wipe them clean after every journey ......;)

They will need a polish with the 'solvol' once a month at least....

Will have to invest in lots of elbow grease byt the sounds of it. Is it possible to use any type of electric polisher on the rims or will they cause damage??/

A soft polishing mop in a drill should be OK just take it steady ;)

rees, if they are the standard amg rims, then they will have laquer, maybe this has misted hence you cant see any bling!

sounds like a refurb job, maybe pics will make things clearer for us to judge?
