I need to clean up some rubber seals, is there something i can dip them in whic will aid getting all the old sealant off as well as softening the rubber a bit, of course without damaging it?

Petrol or paint thinners should help clean them, not sure whether it'll soften though.

If you just want to clean and prolong the life of your rubber seals then I use "Servisol silicon Grease" from CPC . This keeps the rubber from cracking and provides a lubricant for window edges etc in freezing condition ( try not to get it on the glass)

If you are trying to clean glue off the rubber then it depends on the glue as to what will get it off ( petrol, white spirit, proprietory glue release products etc)

Hope this helps

all the seals are off the car, ill try soaking them overnight then go at them with white spirit or something

Autoglym do a small 500ml bottle of Tar remover then give them a spray with Autoglym sylcon spray.
p.s ''I do not work for Autoglym''
