    Quite simple concept to get a square hole, but just needs some well engineered kit with the right control philosophy:D

    Notice the tool still leaves radiused corners though, only a recipricating chisel will give truly square ones.

    Exactly. The nature of a drill is that it only rotates. This is a CNC mill with a specialised bit and the right software instructions with complex controls on rotation and direction synchronised with exactly where the cutting edge is on the rotation.
