For some time my climate control has been faulty. Once the car is warm if I put it any temp apart from all the way onto cold it blows full speed hot. It started after I done a flap reset Snd blew the cobwebs from the vents.
I have just purchased a scanner and although I can’t change anything is checks pretty deep. It sees the car internal temp as -40 .
I think this could be something to do with the problem but where is the temp sensor inside of the car? I have changed and changed back the heater control and the top unit where the lights are As it didn’t make any difference.
the scanner also found the first time I used it flap control stiff or blocked code B1588. Where is this? Is it accessible ?
Thanks Ken

None of the flap controls are easily accessible IIRC, you do not seem to be suffering the dreaded 'clicking' (yet) where the flaps fail to home ,often due to the links breaking. The parts themselves are cheap to buy but very expensive (timewise) to replace.

You seem to have done a fair bit of research so forgive me if you have already been down this road ^^^

The cabin temp sensor is the small round mesh near the radio.

As markjay says . But be careful blasting it with compressed air , not done it myself but hear its not recommended.

It was not at point blank but something happened. Although I have changed both vented units with no change.

You are not here yet , but food for thought.

This is what it looks like (photo showing W204, but W203 is similar):

Thank you
mine has a different set up to that. I can see the vent where air would be drawn and one in the roof as well but I wondered if anyone could point to the component that does the temp control.
Thanks Ken

This odd... I had a 2006 W203 before that, and the cabin temperature sensor was in the same place. I'll check to see if I have an old photo somewhere.

And, from memory, the climate control system's internal intake vent is located in the passenger footwell (just under the fan and cabin filter in the engine bay). This is for RHD cars. That's where the circulated air is sucked out of the cabin.

I have a 2006 S203 C class and mine does not have that sensor there , but does have small vent slots down in-between the AC controls and the ones in the roof liner and mirror housing. Not sure which one does what though.

I will have a search

Reset my brain. I always though that was the microphone for the Mercedes handsfree telephone kit.

The microphone is inside the rear view mirror....
