Hi,
I have a w208 430, whilst driving down the motorway, I pressed the EC button by mistake. The whole car suddenly steamed up and it will not switch off, even when I turn the car off and take out the ignition key. Had to drive the rest of the journey with the window wound down:(.

I do find that with 4 up it does steam up quite quickly after a short time in the car, but turning on the windscreen demister usually sorts this out.

Any ideas, also the REST button that does not appear to do anything:wallbash:

It's amazing what you will find if you look in your handbook.

Apparently the EC button will not turn off if the air conditioning has no gas or is faulty, then it says with this button pressed it is more likely that the interior will mist up.

Looks like i need mine re gassing quick, hopefully that's the only problem

The REST button is residual heat that works after the engine has been switched off to keep the interior warm.

Just had my air conditioner re gassed by Kwik Fit £29 winter deal. However the EC switch still does not switch off.

I quote the hand book " If refrigerant is lost, the air conditioner compressor switches it self off for its own protection. No cooling takes place. Economy mode EC cannot be switched off"

I've had it re gassed so why doesn't the compressor restart therefore enabling me to switch of the economy mode?
