Climate Control retrofit????

Assuming that the appropriate panels can be obtained, is it just a question of replacing the red/white/blue thumbwheels, fan speed switch and air direction controls with an LCD type CC unit, or are there far too many sensors, solenoids and vacuum servos that are needed in addition to make it a viable proposition?

I think this has been covered in a previous thread, Big job, lots of work, don't think it was deemed practical.
