hi

i have some plastic rivit type things that came with my sideskirts. However they dont seem to clip into the holes on my pre-facelift clk.... they just fall out. does anyone know if if a bit of plastic goes into the hole 1st or not? thats the only thing i can think of.....

thanks

derek

can anyone shed any light on this?

as the clips i have dont seem any good (and the MB parts guy said last time i was there that you cant get the clips anymore).... i popped down to B&Q in my lunch hour today and purchased some big washers and some plasterboard fixings. Look like they might just do the trick.... find out thisevening when i attempt to fit them in.... the skirts are only held on with the top clips at the moment

i cant seem to find the side skirts anywhere on my epc - can you give me a part number?

then i can see the plugs - then i can see what else has the same plugs...

i will have to take a look tonight on the underside of the skirt. the skirts were 2nd hand hence maybe not having 100% of the clips....

the clips i have are about the size of a £2 coin and work like plastic rivits. The plastic screw screws into it, thus pusing the end out to secure the fitting. However the fitting just falls back thru the hole. i am thinking the hole needs another clip to be secured in before the rivit can be added (sort of holder for the rivit) if you know what i mean. the old pre-facelift upper trim had plastic bits in the holes that had to be removed before the upper sideskirt clips could be clipped in...... so i assume this is something similar.

thanks

155-A0019900192
158-A0099973781

Cant get the other two. I have the american part cd's.. it says not for that car and wont give me a part no. Tried getting it going through 430 and 55AMG, still not there...

Hope that helps

its either 158 or 161 i need. pro 161 knowing my luck :-(

beaten to it...

same answer as above - i reckon its 167 - but that comes up as not relevant for this car...

how about this - find the part number for the rivit thingy - then find a (say 140 or 220 or 203) with the same rivet (jaymanek - go to the chassis idex, then 'goto' then 'application index' then iption 2 - find ALL cars with this part - then find the corresponding grommet thingy? bet its very similar to 001 988 20 81 - which is a small 6mm OD tube - 4mm ID...

hmmm

I actually have a pile of those clips still attached to some sidekirts in the garage, want me to take look, see if they have part numbers on them? :)

EDIT: also your stealership can list all the clips and fittings, they only cost a few pennies each and a complete set of all the clips for a pair of w202 facelift sideskirts comes to about £20 or something, I know this because I recently priced a complete set up. You may also need some replacement under-door weather protection strips, the w202 had them changed at facelift because the old ones collide with the sideskirts, they were about £5 each or something I think.
