clk200 w209
Hi guys, been off the road for 3 years, so think maybe slightly out of touch with how much petrol the pound buys these days, any way i have a very low mileage mercedes clk200 1.8 w209 model -

the car shows around town that im getting between 25-30 mpg and on a run upto 38 on long run , short run between 30 and 35 this im happy with -

however if i work it on mileage to say for example £10 i will get roughly 30 miles before the light comes on, to £20 ill get 70-75 before light comes on to £40 ill get around 150 before light comes on, etcetc - once light comes on there is still around 30 miles in tank. to a full tank i get only 3-350miles is this right?

is this normal or should i be getting more?

any advice appreciated, it would be great to hear from other clk 200 owners to compare -

many thanks

£40 of unleaded is about 6 gallons in old money so if you are getting 150 miles from 6 gallons it works out to be 25mpg or thereabouts which is about right for your car depending on driving type.

In my c200k I used to get 360miles to a full tank mixed driving so sounds about right.

The smaller petrol engined mb's are never very good on fuel-heavy car/mostly autos, thats why i would always choose a v6 or v8 if you do 10k miles or less a year as the fuel cost difference is not that much.....

My 209 200k averages around 32-33mpg in general use. Around 38 on long motorway runs. Best I ever saw was 42mpg on a gentle run down to Italy. I do drive very gently though.

Mpg/tuning CLK200K 1.8

My clk200k 1.8 gets around 30mpg on a 100mile run.

Anyone looked at tuning ??

My old W208 CLK 320 seems to bear this out, 34.5 over 1020 miles going to Le Mans laden, 27.2 over 2400 local miles. Car has just under 200k miles on it.

W202, year 2000, C240. I get 100 miles around heavy traffic in Cardiff and it costs me £14.00

240 round trip to the Midlands and back using mainly motorway and in sports mode I costs me exactly £22.50 every time................but I run on LPG
