The plastic on the front center armrest and door handles have always lowered the tone of the nappa leather interior ...
So, finally, I have had them covered in leather by shazAMG's contact in Suffolk. He's trustworthy and they have done a pretty good job. It's lovely now all the "contact points" are mostly in leather
The center console comes off quite easily -- there are 2 little screws at the top on each side (facing the seats).
The door handles pop off -- leaving a skeleton which is connected to the door panel. The skeleton was not covered. So the feel of the door handles is only mostly leather. Putting them back on was a bit challenging as the extra thickness of the leather made it a tight fit, but fit they do!
An easy but not cheap mod, but well worth it to me.
Cost was £140 for labour plus carriage. I happened to be in Suffolk so I dropped the parts off. Sending them back to me in London was £20 extra. I supplied the leather (apparently also nappa, but soft in any event) -- offcuts from my recent leather sofa. Have plenty left!
