CLK 230 Alternator

My car has developed a loud groaning noise and I suspect the alternator:fail.I went on to e bay and find plenty of reasonably priced new ones for up to 2000 but my car is Jan 2001.The one for mine is stupidly expensive, can the earlier one fit? I think the difference is a 90amp on earlier models and 120 amp on mine.

Expect to pay about £230+vat for a decent one.

Always look at the old one first 75% of the ones I repair just need new bearing and brushes as it is in bits.

I managed to get an 120 amp alternator from the Starter and alternator company in Plymouth for £174. Only problem was the plastic cover on the back fouled a bracket to engine mounting bolt,cut a few mm off the cover, result car running quietly and smoothly again.:bannana:
