CLK 320 1999 Gearbox

My gearbox seems to either be intermittently stuck in forward gears, or will not move at all. and just revs, a specialist told me over the phone it sounds like the 'gear set' has exploded, can anyone give me an insight onto what may be wrong, or a good place/ location to get a new triptonic 4 speed gearbox...

norfolk. and idea what the problem might be, been surfing for answers and ive seen it may be low fluid causing the cars sensors to deactiate drive?? does this seem logical?

yes first thing to check is the fluid level.
