Hi All

Need a little help!

I went over a speed bump a little fast last night and the rear head restraints popped up (loud noise behind me scared the sheet out of me!) and the hazards came on. Now they won't retract with the dash switch.

Any ideas, I've left a message at my local service centre.

Thanks in advance

Karl

If still covered under warranty then don't mention anything about "speeding over bump..."

You have to hold the switch in the "up" position for a while to get everything engaged/tensioned again, then simply power them down on the switch. Hope this works for you.

max.

...Or hold the switch in the down position for about 15 seconds. This has also happened to me before. Scarey noise!

Thanks for the help. I tried holding the switch, it makes all the right noises for the release but they don't go down.

Car is in for recall work in 10 days so I'll get them to fix it then.

Thanks

happned to me too. after 30 mins of it happening (and driving home upset as i thought ££££s bills from $tealers!) i pulled onto my driveway, switched off engine and they went back down via the switch! :bannana:

It tells you in the handbook how to reset the headrests, but I can remember that I had to hold the button for ages before the headrests actually started moving!

Same thing happened to me a few months ago. Rang the dealer and was told they had to be reset by them. Took the car in and they wanted £60 as this isn't covered under warranty. After I complained to MBUK they let me off as a gesture of good will. By the way mine is a 209 which has a different reset mechanism to the earlier model. I tried all the stuff in the manual without success.

Good luck
