last night i put too much oil in the engine of my W208 CLK 320, can someone please tell me how to drain some of it... as the warning light came on today for 'oil level too high'

I think the cleanest way will be to buy a Pela oil pump (or similar). It's basically a bicycle pump device that sucks oil out in to a container.

whenever my W203 came back from a main dealer service, it often stated the 'oil too high' warning for a few days after; "normal", said the dealer, "it'll stop soon enough."

it did

i put 4Ltrs in so i know its way over, plus on the dipstick its way past the max, isnt there a sump i can open to drain the oil like they'd do in an oil change. i only need to remove 2ltrs or so.....

Yes, there is a sump plug. But to drain out only 2 litres will be very messy indeed.

Or another way forward might be to drain all the oil out and pour back in only the required amount.

If you service the car yourself a Pela pump is a worthwhile investment. Also you'll make friends with any local Smart car owners as those cars don't have a sump :)

Drain out excess when car has stood over night so its nice and cold and the oil will be much thicker making refitting the sump plug much easier.

Remember min to max on stick is approx 2 litres

Where are you as a few members have the vacuum device.

If its that far over i wouldnt be keen to drive it anywhere.

I've overfilled engines before (fresh oil on some dipsticks is borderline invisible) - easy to just undo the sump plug and let some out.
