Hi there, I'm new to this forum and not down on precise technical names, so please stick with me!

I'm interested in getting a CLK or C - Class, both in face lift models. My father drives an E Class with a Comand system, I really like the system but have a few things I'd want it to do, and I'm not sure if these are possible.

Firstly, i'm wanting head rest screens for people in the back, and also AV in. Does the comand system have AV in/out ports?

I have a Pioneer system in my car currently, and am wondering if I wouldn't be better off just transferring this across, but is this possible? it's occurred to me that things like the clock are controlled by the Comand unit, would removing it cause any problems?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Is the pioneer a double din? If so it shouldnt be a problem sticking it in your new motor whichever one you get and if you use headrest monitors with your current unit then there shouldnt be a problem installing them also (unless you have them built in to the headrests...might want a pro to do that lol). As for a/v in well if your pioneer does then you can still do it when you put the headunit in.

With regards to doing stuff with comand units i have no experience with them so i cant help there.

I have installed my new topoftherange kenwood double din unit in my c class sportcoupe and it has all the bells and whistes lol. can do multiple a/v ins and outs and has input for an optional reverse camera. Built in parrot bluetooth with full use of the 7" touchscreen for the phonebook etc, plays dvds etc and can have freeview tuner added and satnav. Hell its so good it even plays music lol.

CLK Command unit replacement

Hi,

I have a 1999 AMG CLK with the command unit. I've been told I can't upgrade to the later unit. Are there any recommended after market sat nav units that will fit, and not mess up the rest of the electronics?

Thanks, Bill
