CLK 320 Cab
New to Mercs. My 2005 CLK cab W209? has 17" elegance Borbett alloys with wider rears. They are not stamped with the two rim sizes or offsets? From the fitment lists I would guess they could be
Front 7.5 x17 30 offset? 225 tyres
Rear 8.5 X 17 37 offset? 245 tyres
Car has standard calipers and 300mm discs and not sport spec which came later. I'd prefer a more sporty looking AMG style wheels possibly going to 18"? I think 19" would screw up the Speedo and ride?
Now of the more sporty modern wheels which will go straight on from other Merc models as few sellers actually list the wheel offsets when selling? It just more useful to know standard fit model wheels and type than trawling lists of wheel fitments. Ideally I don't want to upset the cars dynamics but want it to look more sporty. Cheers.

Not my car but same wheel design I have.

They should definitely have the info you need on the rear/inside of the wheel. It may not be obvious, but it should be there somewhere.

You could use 19s if you wanted to, must reduce ratio though. Use the calculator to get the correct size and keep the same outside diameter to keep Speedo etc happy. Remember though 19s will be a pretty harsh ride.

Found my rear marking saying 8.5" et30 as I thought. Think 18's will best as 19 would mean elastic band thin profile tyres! Just stripped and painted all my calipers so looking good now. Are any other Merc wheel s the same offset?

7.5J x 18H2 with 225/40/R18 was the "sports" front rim
8.5J x 18H2 with 255/35/R18 was the corresponding rear rim.

Nice set up and you have the later calipers too.

The AMG Sports pack came with AMG 18" alloys, AMG suspension, and AMG brakes (in addition to the bumpers, side skirts and exhaust).

I have the same car as you (350 Sport). What pressures do you run at? I’ve settled on 34 PSI all round. 90% of miles is just me and a passenger with an empty boot. Recommended is 33PSI all round for that set up but I find an extra PSI was a bit less crashing over pot holes.

I just looked at my filler flap, and that says 35 PSI front and back for an unladen car. - I normally run them a 36 PSI because I prefer the feel... that and it's just a little longer before the tyre pressure warning message comes up again. o_O

Maybe the difference is due to the hard top?

Is yours not a cabriolet? I thought it was! I expect that explains the difference and it’s interesting we both find an extra PSI feels better! Cheers
