Mercedes 320clk, 2000 model.
Hi all, I wonder if anyone can help? I have a 320 clk, w208 2000 model year. The problem is the lcd dash has 4 pixels in-op on the gearbox indicator/clock. is this repairable or is it (as I suspect) an expensive replacement? Any feedback would be appreciated :D :D

I think this could be an expensive replacement I am afraid...

Best to get one priced up from a dealer and to take it from there

clk dash

thanks for your input, I'll give them a bell tomorrow

Ive got the same problem on mine its a 2000 model it had a new cluster 2 years ago under warranty and its failed again! It would be interesting to see how many members have the same problem, this effected w208's and w210's

What about this........

I think Im right to assume itll be a straight swap. Better check with someone who knows what theyre talking about though......:D

Unfortunatly not a case of just swapping them, they hold a lot of vehicle specific data, to change one over you have to connect your unit to a STAR system and copy data and then write it back onto the new cluster.

Try this

I have a clk 320 w208 and I have missing(intermittent) pixels on the temp gauge. Annoying but not going to pay £300 so it can tell me it is hot or cold outside.

Anyway, I had a bit of a water ingress problem and my friendly mechanic cleaned out the drain behind the dashboard in the engine bay and I can now tell you it was -3 degrees this morning. Problem is still there but considerable more pixels are operating. I must have drove 5 months with nothing and now most of the time it is perfect.

Might be a coincidence but worth a try.

Just out of interest - do you get a display error message?

Classic MB problem, the segments on these displays are always failing, cr*p Seimens VDO kit that MB have never tried to resolve. I have contacted Siemens VDO directly to try and purchase the display modules separately but they are not interested, the fact they have poor quality doesn't bother them since MB have never fed the issue back to them.

Hi, I got my CLK320 2000 in feb, was a few miles(300) up the road before spotting no gear indicator and no clock. Brilliant car and would like to fix this, saw on utube a guy had 2 wires about 6 inches long with a right angle bend at one end, slid these in to the side of the instrument facia and pulled this out, he then for a fee would demonstrate how to exchange the carbon ribbon for a copper one, supplied by him.
Have'nt done this yet though - anyone else done this?

Had the 320 cluster pixels repaired by a company called Cluster Repairs UK a few months back and all still good. Some one had a ago at repairing it for me and screwed it up but they sorted it all out plus put a warranty onit and it didn't cost the earth. Bit over £100 I think.
