I appear to have an intermittent electrical fault on my CLK. Every now and then, the folding wing mirror on the drivers side stays folded, while the one on the passenger side slides into place. When this happens, it also fails to move with you press the button to move it manually. The other connections appear to be ok, as you can still move the glass within the mirror. Next time I get into the car, it invariably starts working again.

Seems to me like a loose connection. Any idea where this might be, and if it is easy to get to?

Hi, i have the same problem on my clk. Any ideas on how to get this resolved without going to the stealers?

I had this happen once on my cls(did get it to unfold using the manual button after a few attempts),disabled the autofold when locking as over time the motor will eventually pack up quicker i would imagine?

You will need to take the wing mirror apart and check the wires. Most likely the wires have broken internally.

This has happened to my driver side wing mirror and I had to resolder all the wires, no problems after that.

It happens to mine every year or so, the spring & linkage inside the mirror need greased. You can spray it in without removing the glass with a spray can & straw.

There are a few threads on here about Wing mirrors with some very good "how to" fixes. Do a search and you'll find them

I had the same with mine last year, I searched and asked on here and the answer was indeed the wiring inside the mirror.

The wiring gets brittle with age, I just replaced it with new (flexible) wire, at friend at work did the soldering for me as its not one of my strong points.

What I did find as a get by until I did the job, is that if I applied slight pressure to the mirror then pressed the button to open them it would pick up and open.

Here is a useful thread on the subject http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/bodywork/62215-w211-door-mirror.html

Had the exact same problem and was advised to spray some WD40 on the hinge and now it works fine every time.
