Hi all,

I am hoping someone on here can help me I have a 2001 200K CLK Tip, its covered 55K and last night I filled the car up with fuel full tank. Started the car this morning and the dash board tells me that its empty (the needle is just sitting at 0).
Has anyone seen this before? or do they know what it potentially is? Im guessing that the fuel sender units are faulty or have just gone totally.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Cheers

P

what does the trip computer thing say, you know the one that says distance remaining on tank...

The trip computer says nothing...its just ------

so I cant even use that to work out when I should re-fuel

ok so is there actually any petrol in the car?!! It may have leaked out?

hmm....I would like to think there is...but I have not actually noticed a pool of fuel on the drive or anything....I took it for a 10 min drive this morning....so if there was nothing in the tank I prob wouldnt have got far.

cheers

hmm, well i scratched my head for ages when this happened to me... fuel evaporated very quickly... i only realised when i moved the car and found a crater in my tarmac!

more likely to be the sender... could even be this cold weather causing it to stick?

interesting...my clk only gets used on the weekend really as I use another car for work...so it doesnt get moved monday to friday and I have been away for a few weeks for work so its just been grounded at home.

also...could it be due to overfilling?

nah overfilling wouldnt cause it really... sounds like its just stuck, could even be a bad connection... think its best to get it to a garage...

have you tried tapping the clocks gently?may help may me a lazy needle!! worth a try

aye...I gave the clocks a gentle tap..didnt help...so I think it will be one for a specialist somewhere....now need to find one in London..

thanks

P

not sure if this helps but in my passat under the boot lining cover there used to be a connection from the petrol tank to the gauge. the wire always got knocked about with shopping.

Am based in Wembley....so have major routes around me....A406, M1, A40 etc. someone who wont rip me off and is reputable would be great...

cheers

well wembley screams out George Fraser but many have been dissapointed with his work recently... still cant deny he's one of the largest specialists around..

also a place in harrow... whats it called... mercstar?

Thankyou ! much appreciated....ill google them and get some numbers and give them a call....

Cheers again

This is a "known" Mercedes problem.

I had the same happen to my 2000 CLK320 and the Mercedes Dealer replaced the tank senders under warranty. I have had no problems since.

I took the car out last night the the needle eventually started working...so its something to do with the senders. I'll have to get it done but atleast I've now isolated the issue.

thanks guys.
