Clk-gtr Problem

They made six not five  oh no, because that makes a difference to the value :D

"We obviously cannot sell the car in its current condition, which right now represents nearly $2 million of scrap metal."
I think you'll find that's scrap carbon fibre, which is probably worth even less.

They should take a leaf out of the chinese book, when their cars develop faults and MB refuse to help they take direct action!

 What's that all about Nick?
The fuel grade in mainland China apparently isn't good enough, so when some Chinese customers complained that their cars didn't work properly MB blamed the fuel. The customers got very upset about this, especially as the tax over there pushes the price of an SLK for example to about £100k equivalent. They wanted better service but MB refused to help. In protest one of the customers, a zoo owner (pictured) invited other disgruntled customers to smash up his car. Later one of his friends brought an S-class and at least one other person joined in.

Oh well, that's perfectly reasonable then... :)

Typical...DC trying to wriggle out of another claim and not taking responsibility for their "defective" products as per usual...

Shame its not a typical UK Stealership getting a taste of their own medicine...

Sticking it to "the man"! :D

I have recreated the scene:

Proof of what happens to a car when it isnt driven. The windows fall off, the hydraulics fail and the engine gets atherosclerosis.

People who collect cars should never sell them to people who want to drive them in the same way that people who want to buy cheap AMG cars should never get them from first owners who never drove them past the corner store.

The whole experience of what the car is supposed to be will be totally tainted.

A seldom driven AMG car is nothing to write home about .... a never driven GTR is simply wrong.

Its not like you can take the CLK GTR to the supermarket now for groccery shopping is it or the gym (its a collectors/enthusiasts' car for w/end drivng)

Fact that the oil light came on during the drive states that is is a mechanical default and DC did not help much either...

Not even Ferraris suffer from symptons of this particular CLK GTR and cost a fraction of the price too and they give simlar/identical performance!!!

Ferraris are made in higher numbers than this (6?). For this level of limited production/buyers please see the Renault Avantime or Vel Satis for comparison ;)

Still NO EXCUSE for DC failing to rectify the issue with the CLK GTR...

Pity they are apparently trying to get MB USA to help when MB USA have no knowledge of the car and it was delivered by MB in DE!

This car was owned by a car dealer who was trying to sell it. The engine suffered catastrophic failure on the first test drive, when the car was new, and can't be driven. The dealer is suing MB as they won't repair the car. This is why is hasn't been driven, not because it's being stored by a collector.

Damn...that's one big mess up...

As said before in the thread by Flash, it's a shame the UK stealerships aren't getting a taste of their own medicine...
