CLK Owners

Oh I'll be in Bath at the beginning of May. Haven't been to Warwick castle for years!!!

Are you going to Castle Combe on 4th May?

Warwick castle is worth another visit in the summer, though I'm sure it's not as cheap as you might remember it to be.

CLK 320 Cab......lovely car...we have had our 2000 W car for 3.5 years now....had no problems with it at all, no rust (always garaged at night)...aveages around 25mpg on commute but can get up to 34/35mpg on long motorway runs if careful.

Must haves? Leather, heated seats, auto box, wind deflector (def)....

Really nice to drive....handling could be a bit sharper (have 16" rims and standard suspension) but great for what we want it for.,,its mainly my wifes car and she is not a sporty driver....

Romps up hill as if they are not there, including mountain passes in Lakes!

Would suggest 320 is the best engine option for everyday use although 430 should be good too.

I'm having my honeymoon in Bath (first place I took the missus 8 years ago ) for a long weekend. Wedding on the 2nd May in London and heading over to Bath on the 4th.

Please don't tell me that something good is going on at Castle Combe  she'll kill me if I suggest a trip there!........mind you Castle Combe village is absolutely stunning and not far away!

Ignore me, I've motor sport on the brain these days ;)

On that w/e I'll be at Castle Combe with my mate in his MX5.....so nothing worth interrupting your honeymoon for :)

Last time I was at Castle Coombe was in 1999 when I was 20yrs old and took my Ford RS2000 round the track for some track driving tuition.

It was just my Red Escort, a blue Fait Coupe Turbo and two rather quick Ferraris, and F40 and F50 on the track. :D

Thumbs up from me too. No rust, no faults in 35000 miles and drives as the showroom intended.

However 320 is far smoother at the expense of consumption.

If your getting a V8 then it would have to be a 55 IMHO.

Thanks for the advice guys I have taken it on board.

Just gotta get a Jag XJR out of my mind. Oh decisions decisions!!

Are you old and do you live in Cheshire.....otheriwse it's the Merc:thumb:

Hehe thanks guys! I'm 55 and I live in Dorset. :D

On another forum I keep hearing RUST and I am a bit worried about that, certainly my C200 was due for a "good coat of looking at" bodywise before its early demise so I'm trying to weigh up the pro's and con's.

I do like the CLK but I'm not prepared to start doing bodywork stuff. I'm all for an easy life.

No No No! We have a Japanese 4WD for towing the horse box and I had a Honda Accord some years ago (worthy but dull)

I really would like a CLK but I am minded to check out the bodywork thoroughly.

Thanks to all for your advice.

/me goes off to Autotrader again.

Just get one , you won't regret it ... preferably a V8 ...

So you have to have the arches painted every couple of years , who cares ...

Gotta love the CLK.

I may have a CLK 320 cab for sale 2000 W reg in good conditon. No rust at all. Always garaged. Always clean wheel arches and have treated them with Waxoyl as a preventative measure.
