Been googling for an hour with no real joy, so any advice please for the following:
I have just bought a secondhand maple/leather steering wheel for my facelift (buttons on the steering wheel) CLK with orion grey interior. Unfortunately, the steering wheel is not the correct shade of grey: the original is a sort of blue-grey along with the dashboard etc., which is slightly darker than the pale 'orion grey' of the seats and door cards.
Can anybody advise me whether it's feasible to recolour the wheel, including the leather rim and the plastic boss/centre, and if so how, and the actual name/code of the colour I'm aiming for - the blue gray?
many thanks
chris

Hi Chris, can't realy help with your question but if you have no joy in re-colouring & want to sell the wheel on then i'll be interested.

Cheers, Mike.

With a steering wheel, if you did re-colour it, I would expect wear and tear to show very quickly and it would look "distressed" rather soon.

Better to wait for one of the correct colour, I would have thought.

Thanks for the replies - yes I'm less than certain that a DIY job will be good enough, but the leathercare/Gliptone spray/scuffmaster stuff seems to get good reviews, so maybe that'll be the way to go: I just need to know the colour I'm aiming for (or saw off a piece of trim to send as a sample!).
I couldn't really move my wrong-colour steering wheel on: it's some sort of yucky grey colour with green/beige/grime tints.
thanks
chris

solved
- the colour is 'Orion Dark Grey'
why didn't I think of that!
