Hi guys,

I'm driving myself nuts here, can't access my clk w208 230k boot. read below.

My boot doesn't open by the 'remote boot function on the key' or by pressing the boot button at the back. And inside the car the boot light remains on, on the 'boot switch', it remains on even though the boot is closed.

The only way I can open the boot is by using the key :(.

I have changed the boot fuse but that didn't make a difference.

Any suggesstions? It's driving me nuts as I always have to use the key to access the boot.

Heres my car :)

Vaccum connection to boot lock? Does the boot lock/unlock with the central locking at all?

But you say the light on the boot light switch remains on. I'm wondering if the car thinks the boot in open so doesn't try to open it -> is the plunger switch on the boot lid working (this next to the lock on a 202 - I assume similar location on a 208). If you push the plunger in does the light on the switch go out (need long arms, or a friend), equally does the boot interior light go out.

I had the same problem, turned out that the fuse had blown.

Check your fuses first.

I agree.

Sometimes it is more subtle than just, is the fuse blown or not.
The connections can become oxidised too or just not seated firmly in the fuse box.

The boot doesn't lock\unlock with central locking anymore. The boot just remains locked until opened by a key. I will try the plunger thing later on today and post back.

What fuse am I looking for? As I have checked a few but none seem to solve my problem or maybe I looked at the wrong fuses. I have all the spare fuses in the boot.

cheers guys

Is there power to the switch on the lock?

Have you checked the wiring atthe boot hinge?

I noticed something strange about the boot lock, I disconnected the battery and re-connected the battery and the boot starts to work remotely on the remote and inside the car via the button. But after a while it stops working. And the boot light inside the car still remains on whether or not the boot is open.

And yes there is power to the lock, the wiring also seems fine.

Is the boot release linked to the central locking unit?

I was thinking to replace the whole unit but what unit am I looking for i'm confused :s.

Thanks for the help and time

I had the same thing about a month ago on my CLK. Even down to that it seemed fixed for a day or two but the "boot open" indicator remained permanently on. Local independent tracked it down to a faulty connection on the rear fuse box. It's been fine since.

Had this problem on mine and turns out one of the wires on the right when you open the boot up had split along with one of the air lines..managed to fix it from there, just took ages trying to get the wires back into the rubber loom holder without breaking anything else..

I've had the car looked at and the problem is the centrol locking pump (PSE PUMP), just need to find the right one now and repair it.

Anyone have a pump for my CLK?

My car is 2000 model, W208 CLK 230 Kompressor

thanks for all the help and advice guys

appreciate it :)
