Clk w208 cabriolet year 2000 will these become collectors cars?

I ask as I have a clk w2008 elegance and a w209 AMG both cabriolet models and wondered if these are going to appreciate if kept mint or they will always be cheaper convertible run about?

I don't see why either car shouldn't appreciate in value if kept in pristine condition.
But I don't see them becoming collectors cars.

A CLK 430 Convertible will certainly increase if kept mint (w208)
- the 209s are plentiful and still just cheap cars - especially with the engine issues of cam chain on 200s and balancer shafts on the V6 - I’m looking around at them currently for some summer fun

I think they will appreciate. A decent 208 is rare, 209 less so.

I think the 208 is quite a charming car, I’ve had a couple and they were enjoyable.

The 208 predecessor, the 124 cab is expensive to buy and too bloody bespoke to be a safe buy. The 209 in anything other than v8 form is quite ordinary, so I guess decent spec 208 will become sought after, like the BMW e46 330 is becoming.

I remember when these first came out. They were like nothing else ever made. They looked beautiful from every angle and much better looking then their successors. When I see them today driving around Texas, they're mostly falling apart but that's going to happen. A cars value bottoms out at around 20 years. After that, the bad ones turn into parts cars and the good ones increase in value. I suspect that once people start seeing fewer of them, and the ones they do see are well kept, opinions will become more favorable and the values will increase. Get them while they're cheap I say.
