CLK 320 SPORT
Good evening my fluffy bunny wabbits :D

I apologize if this has been answered elsewhere (i have searched but found no definitive answer)

I plan on lowering my CLK 320 sport using a set of Eibach 'Sportline' springs, according to my calculations, i expect the car to sit approx 30mm lower at the rear and 50mm at the front...this should make her nice and level while filling the gap between tyre and arch without 'being silly' (me - silly?)

But i am in a pickle regarding Dampers. I understand that with the Eibach 'sportline' kit, standard dampers are suitable but i am a bit of a believer that uprating the dampers would be a wise move while doing the springs. Having taken a nosey around the 'tinterweb' i am finding difficulty finding a good recommended 'uprated' Damper kit suitable for this car.

Don't get me wrong, i dont want nor expect F1 style handling or ride comfort, my aim is to drop the car to an esthetically pleasing 'level' but i don't intend to chase the 'set up' around forever and a day, i would rather lower the car, change the Dampers and get a 4 wheel alignment done then sit back and enjoy the results. I hate doing jobs twice :D

Any advice/recommendations would be gratefully received.

IMO you can't go wrong with bilstein or koni damper.

Get the B12 kit. It has eibach springs in the kit and it is matched for your car. If you need help gettting the kit.......

Does anyone recommend changing the anti-roll bars?

I find that having lowered a bit, body roll "feels" excessive....

Eibach do the ARB too

Or a CLK 55 ARB ?

My clk has eibach springs, B8 sprint bilstein dampers and the smaller shims to get the nose down more also fitted some camber adjusters to the front and rear which have paid for themself sorting out the uneven tyre wear.

next job is uprated anti roll bars as it started out as a bouncy Elegance spec they are not up to the job asked of them!
a sport should have stiffer, thicker bars but im not sure if its enough once the car is lowered.

Thanks for the replies fellas...

It seems i can locate quite easily the B8 Sprint dampers and Eibach springs separately, but that seems like alot of messing about if a full kit is available.
I cant find a B12 kit for a w208 320 on the net anywhere....even Demon tweeks (who once upon a time could get anything for anything) dont list a B12 kit for this car...

so.......

:D erm.....quote please? :D

As for the camber bushes and roll bar..

Interesting train of thought there and will have to look into those at a later date, fortunately, my annual mileage (in the car) is only around 4k so tyre wear should not suffer too much for a while yet.

Give me a call Monday with your car registration number and I will be happy to help. The kit is not cheap but is excellent.

Bilstein's site no longer list a b12 kit for the w208, always possible that they have a few floating round the warehouse though so must be worth a call.

the b12 kit contains b8 dampers and bilsteins own spec springs but realistically eibach springs will be close enough for many drivers. (imho of course)

euro car parts are bilsteins uk agent and most good tuning shops can source eibach springs so easy enough to source but above ^ is a club member and MB specialist willing to help ;)

Nice one :thumb:

I shall be in touch, but don't get too excited by the heavy breathing.....i do a heavy job.

Hi Mr Squirrel

Did you ever get this done? if so, what dod you end up getting?

I too was looking at the same spring kit, but also a firm believer in doing a job properly once.

Any help on this would be much appreciated, also if you have any pics, that'd be great too.

Cheers.

Stuart

I has the kit on my old 202. It is excellent.

Yours is a cabriolet?
