Help! Car hit a pothole badly yesterday and this has activated the rear head restraints / rollover feature. W209 Cabriolet

Have tried lowering with the button on the dash but this has no effect.

There appears to be a procedure in the manual but not sure if this also disables the hood...

Any advice?

The procedure in the manual does work as when I had mine (with roof down) i went around a roundabout a bit too quick and they popped up... The way i did it was to use a long thin screwdriver down the side of each headrest and press the release button whilst pushing the headrest down. Now if the hoods up then I believe there is a different method in the handbook...

Hood is up....

Have tried to undertake the procedure in the manual but cannot find any sort of release mechanism....any suggestions?

There is a tool in the toolkit with the spare wheel, like a very long Allen key.

Had the tool etc. but was obviously not finding the correct area to press...difficuat as you cannot see what you are doing......just spent the last 10 mins rummaging around with a long skewer and eventually found the release mechanism so the restraints are now back in the down position....

Thanks for help..all sorted.....now have to deal wiht the buckled AMG wheel and blown tyre (in sidewall!)

Let me know if you find a cheap source for the wheel - I presume it is the 5 spoke AMG one that was on nearly all the 2009 cars. My wife hammered ours so it is no longer round!

We are actually swapping to 17" wheels as more comfortable for the wife and there are so many potholes around now she needs wheels that are a bit more forgiving.
