Clk W209 front ashtray

How do I empty the now full ashtray in my clk 320 convertible ?

Is there an insert missing or something

Have tried pulling and searched for clips to release it lol... Think I should have looked before filling it..

I speak with absolutely no authority on this subject, but...
If the cover of the cigarette lighter socket says "12V !5A" you may have purchased a vehicle with the 'smoker delete' package.

That is, the cigarette lighter socket is empty, and instead is expected to power sundry in-car devices; the ash tray is merely a holder for the unburned detritus of modern travel.

It looks like the "cigarette lighter" socket once had a cover but is missing so can't look at what it says on front.
Looks like I'll have to construct something out of an old pie case to collect my ash...
Or more sensibly give the bloody fags up..

Thanks for all your help.... Dyson done the trick, wiped and noticed a rubber mat inside, removed it to wash it and it clearly has "NO SMOKING" on it

3 figure speeds with the roof off may well empty the ashtray, it's very effective with my Corvette at removing anything loose, wanted or not. Where legal, of course!
