Is this an easy job? I need to remove it to repaint small section above the strip!

MXS, As Nick correctly said they changed it to an all in one mold for the W209. Found this out when i fitted the no holes parking sensor, then removed the bumper to find that its also double skinned. The only bit that is removable is the chrome strip.

Boobs

My car has the same issue and I thought I could buy just the strip

I need to replace the chrome strip on mine too. I am going to remove the bumper again when I replace, as it is easier to get the strips off if you can slide them along from the inside. Then spray some scuffed areas.
Where are you getting you paint from ? Think the main dealer does cans for small jobs like this.

The strips clip into place, so if your old strip has had it, you can just pull it off (so to speak) with some long nose pliers, and then clip the new one in.

Saves taking the bumper off, which is not a two minute job...

I was... going to take off the strip and let a body shop have it at the same time as a spoiler and refit everything myself. Thus, they worry about the paint and not me...
