Hello everyone

I have just bought a year 2000 CLK 320 for the wife.
It's a beautiful drive and looks and performs amazingly. The only problem is the windows don't go all the way up properly. If I use the auto up it closes then opens a centimetre the only way i can gey it to close is if I hold the button down half way until I hear a click then it will stay up. Also when I goto open the door the windows don't drop a fraction as other coupe cars do, not sure if they should though.

Any ideas.
Cheers Adrian

Sounds like they need 'normalising' resetting to learn the limits.

Open the window by pressing all the way down, hold the switch down for 5 sec. Now close by pulling up all the way intil closed and hold the switch ip for 5sec. Repeat for the other window.

Hi

Sorry for the late reply.
I tried the window normalisation as a first thought but it didn't work. The windows will go up to the closed position, then will drop back down a bit. I think that maybe the sensor that judges the windows hight may have failed. Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem

Cheers

Adrian

There is no sensor, IFAIK it done via spins of the motor i.e. stepper index. Which is why one needs the 'normalisation', to tell the door control module where up and down limits are.

Have you checked the operation of the door pin switches? If the controller thinks the door is open, it'll drop the window

Yes checked the door pins and all seem ok. When I close the doors the loghts go out so I'm assuming the car recognises that the doors are closed.

It's almost that the car thinks that the windows have a hand in it and the safety override kicks in to stop it opening

Does anybody know how the safety over ride works?

increase in current drawn I'd guess.
