CLK
Hi Guy's,
Rushing to jump start I hooked up 1 side of jumpers to my CLK, the Mrs hooked em up onto her MR2, she thought terminals would be same as on mine. WRONG. a bit of sparking, Quickly took em off. Now I am left with a car that WILL start and drive, BUT. No indicators at all, no rear lights/brake lights, licence plate, all driver side only, Fuel gauge not working nor is boot release switch working, Obviously I have fried something as all bulbs are fine and as far as I can see no fuses blown.
Any help would be great as I need car for work 200 miles per day...
Thank you in advance
Dave

I'd say you killed the front SAM?
STAR diagnosis would confirm what's going on (or not, as the case may be!)

Thanks for that, I had read on another thread it maybe the rear SAM module, I bought a Launch diagnostic reader, but cant find any faults with it, looking on Ebay for SAM for A209 but now not sure which one to go with, tried looking for more info on what does what, but difficult to find anything

Sorry, yes you may be correct in that it's the rear SAM.
I'm not sure if a replacement would also need coding to the car?

Thanks for all the help Guy's, Think I am gonna order a rear SAM unit, Mind looking at the fuse guide Graeme sent me there is no mention of indicator or rear light fuses on the rear Sam !! So still a bit confused,,,

is it W208 or W209?

better double check by EPC part number

rear sams of W203 are easy to fry even with 'conventional' battery change...

Iirc the indicators and rear lights aren’t fused. They are protected electronically in the sam by the drive transistors folding back the current if the draw is excessive.

So do you believe that changing rear SAM will sort my problem Ted. Kinda clutching at straws here.
Many thanks

I have read elsewhere that it wont need recoding, BUT, the window sensors will need resetting

Depends on what options your sam/the replacement sam are coded for.
At a guess, I would say that all basic functions should work if it is from a UK car.
Hope it gets sorted ok :thumb::thumb: - love the clk.

I notice the part nos for the coupe and vert rear SAM are different. Don't know if thats significant but the convertible has significnatly more equipment at the rear- roll over bar Softop etc.

Thank you everybody for ALL your help and advice, I chanced a rear SAM unit from a 2002 C class W203 C200 from the breakers, This has fixed most issues fuel gauge, doors, 3 indicators, pre tensioners. Only prob I now have is D/side rear light/indicator. At least I feel confident to drive it to work now.
Thank you again, your all stars...
